For professional service firms that aren't winning enough work, and can't say why not

You don't have a
marketing problem.
You have one break
you haven't found.

The Client Flow Survey: a 60-minute session that traces the five points where client flow breaks, and tells you which one is yours.

Right now you're doing six things to bring work in. A bit of LinkedIn. The odd referral ask. A website you paid for and rarely touch. You can't stop any of it, because you don't know which one is doing the work, or whether any of it is.

So you keep doing all six. And it still isn't enough.

The idea

Why doing more of it hasn't worked

Most advice treats winning clients as a volume problem. Not enough enquiries? Post more. Network more. Spend more. Turn the tap up.

That advice assumes the pipe is clear.

Client flow runs more like a circuit than a tap. A stranger has to notice you, understand why you and not someone else, find an easy way in, and then have a reason to come back or send someone else. Current has to make it all the way round. And when a circuit stops working, it isn't usually because the power is low. It's because there's a break at one specific point, and everything past that point goes dark.

That's why turning the tap up doesn't help. If the break is at the third point, more effort at the first just means more people arriving at a gap. Your work is still good. Your effort is real. It just isn't reaching anybody, and nothing you add upstream will change that until the break is found.

In fifteen years of doing this, in my own business and other people's, I have almost never found five things broken at once. It's one. Usually earlier in the chain than the owner expects.

The problem

The two questions most owners can't answer

Take your last five clients. Not your best five. Your last five. Could you say, honestly, where each one came from?

Most owners can name two, guess at a third, and shrug at the rest. "Word of mouth" is usually the polite way of saying "I don't actually know."

Now the harder question. Of everything you did last month to bring work in, which of it produced an enquiry? And of the enquiries that came, which ones turned into paid work, and what made the difference between the ones that did and the ones that went quiet?

Those are two separate failures and most owners have both. You can't say what generates an enquiry. You also can't say what converts one. Which means every hour you spend on winning work is a guess, and every result is a coincidence you can't repeat.

That isn't a discipline problem. You run a business. You hit deadlines every week. It's that nobody has ever sat down and traced the actual path a stranger takes to become your client, start to finish, and told you plainly where it stops.

Who this is for

UK owner-run professional service firms, one to five people. Plumbers. Physios. Bookkeepers. Accountants. Health and safety consultants. If you're the person doing the work and also the person meant to be finding the work, this is built for you.

If you already know exactly what's broken and the problem is making yourself do it, that's a different problem and a cheaper fix. Resolved, our £99 app, is built for that instead.

THE INSTRUMENT

The five points where client flow breaks

The circuit has five points. We call the map of them the Client Flow Map, and it's the instrument we use in every Survey. It's one part of a bigger system, the Client Circuit, but you don't need any of that to get value from an hour.

01

Reach

Do enough of the right people encounter you at all, in a normal month? Not eventually. Now.

02

Reason

When someone does find you, is it obvious who you're for and why you, in the first eight seconds on your site or profile?

03

Route

Once someone's decided they want you, is the next step obvious and easy? Or does the enquiry sit in an inbox for three days?

04

Return

Do the clients you've already done good work for come back, or send someone else, or simply vanish once the invoice is paid?

05

Rhythm

Does the work of getting clients actually happen in a normal week, or does it get pushed behind client work, admin, and everything that feels more urgent?

We work through your last five clients, your website, your enquiry process and your last month, in that order, because the earliest break is the one costing you the most. Fixing point four while point one is open is how people stay busy and skint at the same time.

By the end you'll have heard, out loud, which point is broken, and the evidence from your own answers that proves it.

What's included

What you walk away with

  • A 60-minute 1:1 session, video call, with Martin
  • A live working-through of the Client Flow Map against your actual last five clients, your actual website, your actual enquiry process
  • One clearly named break, agreed with you before the call ends, not guessed at afterwards
  • A written one-page plan, the Plan of Works, delivered within a few days
  • An honest answer on whether you need more help at all

There's no application form. Paying for the session is the only qualification. You book, you turn up, you get diagnosed properly.

THE PLAN OF WORKS

The part that matters most is what it tells you to ignore

One page, on purpose. If it ran to three pages you wouldn't act on any of it.

It names the one point that's actually broken and the evidence for it, in your own words from the session. It gives you the first specific thing to do about it, then the second.

And then it does the thing no marketing advice ever does. It names the shiny distraction you'll be tempted to do instead, the rebrand, the new channel, the thing someone mentioned at a networking event, and tells you plainly to leave it alone until the real break is fixed. Not because it's a bad idea. Because it can't help you yet.

That's what you're actually buying. Not a plan. Permission to stop guessing, and permission to stop doing five of the six things that were never going to work anyway.

The plan is yours whether you buy anything else from us or not. It's the same plan either way, so if you want to take it and get on with it alone, that's a perfectly good outcome.

THE PRICE

£147

Why it's £147

Because finding the break and fixing it are two different jobs, and this is the first one.

A campaign is expensive because someone is doing months of work for you. A diagnosis is one hour, one instrument, and someone who's looked at enough of these to know where to start. Priced as what it is, that's £147. It isn't a cut-price version of something bigger. It's the whole of a smaller thing.

There's no retainer built into it, and nothing that only makes sense if you buy again. You pay £147, you get a full hour and a written plan, and that's the whole transaction.

IF YOU GO FURTHER

If the plan points to a next step you'd like our help with, your £147 comes off the price, whatever that next step turns out to be. The credit lasts six months from your session and counts against anything we sell. £648 becomes £501.

Resolved becomes free. It's one credit, capped at the price of what you buy, no change given, and non-transferable. If you never use it, it lapses quietly, with no chasing and no hard sell. You keep the plan either way. You paid for it and it's yours.

The guarantee

What if the session isn't worth it?

A surveyor who's confident in their work doesn't need small print to hide behind. So here's ours, in plain language.

If you get to the end of your Survey and don't believe it was worth every penny, say so there and then. We refund the full £147. No forms, no fuss.

The reason it has to be said at the session and not weeks later is simple. Once you've taken the Plan of Works away with you, the work is done and delivered, the same as a builder's survey once you've read the report. So the guarantee lives at the end of the call, in the room, while we're both still there to sort it out properly.

A few practical points. You can take the refund or the credit, not both. It's one Survey per business, and rebooking doesn't reset a guarantee you've already used. Beyond that, it's exactly what it says: if it wasn't worth it, tell us, and you get your money back.

FROM MARTIN

Why should you believe me?

I'm a qualified marketing strategist and growth consultant, and I've spent over fifteen years working with service-based businesses.

I'm not going to hand you a testimonial from someone who's done this session, because at the point of writing this, nobody has. If that matters to you, it's a fair thing to weigh up, and I'd rather tell you straight than dress up something that isn't real.

What I can show you is what this kind of work looks like when it's done properly. Dave Faulconbridge runs WF Glazing Protection. This was a longer engagement than an hour, and it was back in 2016:

"During 2016 we have become a far more streamlined efficient business and have seen 40% growth. We now have an integrated cloud-based CRM system tailored to our requirements."

Dave Faulconbridge, Director, WF Glazing Protection Ltd
2016 engagement

That wasn't a Survey, and I'm not going to pretend it was. It was months of work. But it started the way all of this starts: finding the one point where the business was losing what it had already earned, and dealing with that before touching anything else. The Survey is that first step, on its own, in an hour.

Where did the five points come from? I was made redundant from a banking job in 2008. I started my own business in 2010.

For the years since, I've been the person doing the work and the person meant to be finding the work, in the same body, most weeks. Same as you are now.

I've posted, networked, asked for referrals, and genuinely not known which of it was doing anything. It took me a long time, and a fair few wrong turns, to work out that it's almost never five things going wrong at once. It's one thing, usually earlier in the chain than you'd guess, and the rest of your effort is fine.

That's the whole method behind this session. Not theory borrowed from a marketing textbook. Fifteen years of finding my own break the slow way, built into something that finds yours in an hour.

You'd be one of the first through the door. I'd rather you knew that going in.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the marketing help I've paid for before?

Most people who've been burned bought templates, a course, or a retainer where someone posted on their behalf, without anyone ever finding out what was actually broken first. This isn't content and it isn't a course. It's one session that names the one thing that's wrong, in your own words, before anyone suggests a fix.

What if the break turns out to be something I already suspected?

Then you'll leave knowing you were right, with evidence, and with the other four ruled out. Most of the value in a diagnosis is what it lets you stop worrying about.

Can't I work this out myself?

Some people can, and if that's you, do it and keep the £147. Most people who could have, already would have. It's genuinely hard to see your own circuit from the inside, which is why surveys exist as a trade at all.

What if more than one thing is broken?

Then we name the earliest one, because fixing anything downstream of it won't show a result. The plan says what to fix first, on purpose. First is the useful word.

Sixty minutes doesn't sound like long enough.

It's long enough because it's structured and because you already have the answers. We're not researching your market. We're tracing a path you've been living for years and finding the point it stops at.

What happens to my £147 if I don't go further?

Nothing happens to it, and nothing happens to you. You keep the plan, and your £147 stays good as a credit against anything we sell for six months from your session. If you never use it, it lapses quietly. No chasing, no follow-up sales calls.

What if I get to the end and don't think it was worth it?

Say so at the session and you get the full £147 back. No forms. See the guarantee above for the detail.

Who is the Client Flow Survey for?

UK owner-run professional service firms, one to five people, who aren't winning enough work and can't say why not. If you already know exactly what's broken and the problem is consistency, Resolved at £99 is the better fit.

If you'd rather see the whole picture first, the whole system this plan fits into is worth a look. And if you already know your problem is consistency rather than diagnosis, Resolved at £99 might be the simpler answer.
